The High Court has today handed down judgment in three challenges to the Government’s plans for meeting its net zero targets: R (Friends of the Earth and others) v Secretary of State for Energy Security and Net Zero [2024] EWHC 995 (Admin). Mr Justice Sheldon allowed the challenges in part, ruling that the Secretary of State’s decision to adopt the Carbon Budget Delivery Plan was taken on an erroneous basis.
