The Divisional Court will today hear a challenge to the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and the Government’s arrangements for statutory sick pay during the Covid-19 pandemic, brought by the IWGB against HM Treasury. The case raises important issues concerning the status of ‘limb b’ workers under the Human Rights Act 1998 and the Equality Act 2010, and the extent of the Government’s financial support to individuals during the pandemic.

Julian Milford KC, Rupert Paines and Ben Mitchell act for HM Treasury, instructed by the Government Legal Department.
