Oliver Jackson features in case in The Legal 500 and Legal Business Dispute Yearbook 2024

News

The Legal 500 and Legal Business Disputes Yearbook 2024 has been published and Oliver Jackson features in one of the eight cases of the year, the Mastercard Proceedings, in which thousands of merchants and consumers seek damages from Visa and Mastercard for losses alleged to have been caused by the card schemes’ anti-competitive interchange fees.

Trial 1, the first of (at least) three trials in the proceedings, took place from 14 February to 28 March 2024 and will determine whether the interchange fee arrangements breach Article 101(1) TFEU. Judgment was reserved. Oliver appeared for the merchant claimants, along with Kieron Beal KC from Blackstone Chambers and Philip Woolfe and Antonia Fitzpatrick from Monckton Chambers, instructed by Stephenson Harwood LLP and Scott+Scott UK LLP.
