We are delighted to announce that Professor Christian Tams joins Chambers today.
A distinguished international lawyer, Christian’s practice focuses on international litigation and arbitration. He has represented States in proceedings before international courts and tribunals, acted in arbitral proceedings under the main frameworks of investment arbitration (ICSID, ICC, UNCITRAL), and provided expert advice in domestic proceedings involving questions of international law.
In addition to contentious matters, Christian advises States and non-State actors on a wide range of legal questions, among them the scope of sovereign immunities, the enforcement of international awards and the impact of sanctions.
Christian is Professor of International Law at the University of Glasgow and Director of the Glasgow Centre of International Law and Security. He also holds professorial appointments at Sorbonne Law School in Paris and Leuphana University in Lüneburg, Germany.
He is Vice-President of the European Society of International Law, and a member of the scientific advisory board of the German Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
Christian says: “I am excited to be joining 11KBW and to contribute to its further expansion in the fields of public international law and international arbitration. I particularly look forward to collaborating with highly respected colleagues based at 11KBW on cases before international courts and tribunals.”
Daniel Stilitz KC, Joint Head of Chambers, says: “We are delighted that Christian is joining 11KBW. Christian is a recognised leader in international law and a very welcome addition to Chambers.”
