Our membership currently includes 18 female counsel of whom 3 (soon to be 4) are silks. We are particularly proud that female members of Chambers have been appointed as Lady Justice of Appeal, High Court Judges and Employment and First Tier Tribunal Judges. We have a female senior clerk, who is also the very first female Chair of the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks in its 100 year history.
We are dedicated to improving the retention of women at the Bar, through our maternity leave policy and our efforts to enable a successful return to work no matter the length of leave. We have welcomed and supported members to return to practice after breaks of many years.
We have a fully implemented fair allocation of work policy in which all staff are trained, ensuring equal opportunities in work for all.
We support and practice equality in recruitment whether through pupillage, lateral hires and staff recruitment.
11KBW will continue to work to #BreakTheBias, and to create a Bar, and clerking profession, that is diverse, equitable and inclusive.
