Harini Iyengar acted for the Information Commissioner and Stephen Kosmin acted for the Home Office in what is one of the most important FOIA cases of the year.  The First-Tier Tribunal ruled last Wednesday that there is no territorial limit on the UK’s Freedom of Information Act, upholding the right of anyone of any nationality to use the Act, no matter where they live.  The decision has been hailed by lawyers as a victory for free speech and openness, and the accountability of public authorities.  Read more here.
