Philip Kolvin KC’s article about the cancellation of artists for political reasons was published in the Institute of Licensing’s Journal of Licensing today. Written before the issues regarding Wireless and Kanye West arose, the article considers examples of cancellation in the USA and UK over the last century, and suggests a framework to guide future treatment of the issue, including the responsibility of artists for the eco-system in which they operate. The article, entitled “A century of cancellation: what price freedom of expression?” can be read here.
