Daniel Stilitz KC and Aliya Al-Yassin appear in International Court of Justice advisory proceedings on the right to strike

The International Court of Justice heard oral arguments this week in advisory proceedings on whether the right to strike of workers and their organisations is protected under ILO Convention No. 87 on the Freedom of Association and Protection of the Right to Organise. The Court heard from 18 States and 5 international organisations. This is the first request for an advisory opinion by the International Labour Organization since its request in 1932, made to the Permanent Court of International Justice.

Daniel Stilitz KC appeared for the Government of the United Kingdom alongside Professor Philippa Webb.
