News

We are delighted to announce that Sophie Belgrove, Robin Hopkins and Christopher Knight have today been appointed as King’s Counsel, at a ceremony at the Palace of Westminster.

Sophie specialises in employment law and commercial litigation. She is sought after for her tenacious cross-examination skills, sound judgment and analytical approach to complex litigation. She is recognised for her expertise in high value discrimination and whistleblowing claims and urgent applications for interim relief, especially in the finance sector, technology, media and sport. Sophie is also involved in heavyweight gig economy cases and other highly significant workforce litigation affecting thousands of individuals. As junior counsel she won Employment Junior of the Year and Junior of the Year at the International Employment Lawyer Awards. She acts at appellate level in the EAT, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Robin is a market-leading specialist in information law: data protection, privacy, platform disputes, online safety, media and technology issues and freedom of information. He has vast experience on GDPR and DPA issues such as data breaches, compensation claims (both individual and large group claims), ICO regulatory actions, subject access requests and compliance challenges to data-driven business models. His cases have involved major multinationals, including Meta/Facebook, Experian, Google, TikTok, Ticketmaster, Skybet and Equifax. He has appeared in many of the leading freedom of information cases, ranging from first-tier tribunal through to Supreme Court proceedings.

Christopher is recognised as one of the leading public lawyers at the bar with a broad public law practice and a particular specialism in constitutional law, the devolution settlement and in Brexit-related matters. He has appeared in the most significant constitutional law cases of the last few years, including the Article 50 Brexit case, the Scottish independence referendum reference, the challenge to the prorogation of Parliament and the Rwanda challenge. He acts for claimants, NGOs, regulators and central Government. He has acted as sole advocate before the High Court, Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court and the Court of Justice of the EU. He is also leading expert in information and data protection law. He is the co-author of Bradley, Ewing & Knight, Constitutional and Administrative Law (19th edition forthcoming), a deputy editor of Public Law and a contributor to The White Book.
