The Levelling-up and Regeneration Act received Royal Assent on 26 October 2023. Some of it came into force then. More will come into force after 2 months. It is a monster. It has 13 Parts and 24 Schedules. It runs for no fewer than 537 pages! It is of great interest and importance to Local Authorities and their advisors over a range of fields. James Goudie KC will give an overview, and focus on Part 2, Local Democracy and Devolution, and especially Chapter 2, on matters as diverse as Combined Authorities, local authority governance, policies and crime commissioners, and local authority finance.
