ICO announces monetary penalty in British Airways cyber-attack case

Cases

The ICO has today announced that it has imposed a £20m penalty on BA in connection with the cyberattack it suffered in 2018. This equates to a near 90% reduction in the £183m fine that the ICO was proposing to impose on BA pursuant to the ‘notice of intent’ issued to the company earlier this year.

11KBW’s Anya Proops KC and Christopher Knight have been acting for BA working alongside Mark Watts, Hannah Crowther, Emma Macalister Hall and the Bristows data protection team.
