The Academies Bill, the flagship of the Government's education programme, has already had its second reading. The 11KBW Education group ran a seminar on Academies on 21st July 2010.

James Goudie QC chaired the 11KBW Academies Seminar.

Peter Oldham QC, Clive Sheldon and Holly Stout looked at the following issues, amongst others:

• what the Bill says

• public law constraints: admissions, exclusions, special needs etc

• employment issues: TUPE, remuneration and Equal Pay
