Alistair McGregor QC
Biography
Alistair specialises in commercial law, partnership law, confidential information and trade secrets, copyright and allied rights, restraint of trade and contempt of Court. His practice embraces all stages of litigation (interlocutory, trial and appellate) and his advisory work has extended to cases in Bermuda, Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong.
In 1991, he assisted in the preparation of the evidence submitted by the Bar Council Law Reform Committee to the Nicholls/Staughton Committee on Anton Piller orders. Alistair has lectured on courses for the London University external LLB and for the Bar, solicitor’s and accountant’s professional examinations. He has contributed articles to The Conveyancer and Property Lawyer and to Litigation Letter.
Recent Cases
UBS Wealth Management v Vestra and Others
[2008] EWHC 1974Successfully appeared for UBS in the High Court. Bank lost a team of around 70 employees to a start up competitor. The bank alleged that the employees had been poached. The bank succeeded in obtaining an interim injunction that prevented the new employer from dealing with any of the customers of the division of the bank from which the employees had been taken.
Siemens v Paul Wurth
March 2008First case in which a springboard injunction was granted to prevent a prospective employer from offering to employ or employing staff of the Claimant who had been approached as a result of the prospective employer inducing the Claimant’s directors to act in breach of duty by assisting a competitor to identify employees to approach.
Deacons v White & Case and Ors
[2004] HKLRHigh Court of Hong Kong Special Administration Region. Court of First Instance. Specially admitted to the Hong King Bar to conduct Deacon’s lengthy and successful action against White & Case for breaches of fiduciary duty and restrictive covenants.
